Nursing is a very important field and plays the role of defining the treatment which is to be given to a patient. Many hospitals in the world are faced with dilemma of dealing and providing total patient care and team nursing. This paper seeks to address the above issues and it comes up with a proposal of analyzing whether total patient care and team nursing is effective or non effective. The objective of the research will be to examine the concepts total patient care and the factors associated with its use in the team nursing. Introduction When it comes to maintenance of health, it is the role of the nurses to engage the necessary mechanisms which shall be able to promote effective health in the society. It would thus be necessary to come up with all engagements capable of improving delivery of service and promote performance. There has been great advancement in the health care system in our society today than in the past years. The medical technology has made it possible to provide total nursing care and team nursing to patients in a way that they feel secure and comfortable. This means that an individual’s life can be prolonged and hence patients living with health issues and the persistent mental condition can live for an indeterminate time (Knin, 2001). This is thus a proposal which shall be concerned with coming up with a system for management and performance towards provision of the best strategic plan on use of Total patient care and team nursing. This means that the plan shall be able to come with succinct recommendations which can effectively be adopted, and by so doing be able to improve the kind of engagement and enforcement. This proposed study will enhance information derivation and give possible opinions and solutions which have the capability of improving health of sick patients and provide better nursing care. Problem Statement In provision of patient care, it is necessary to make sure all issues have been carefully considered. These range from personalized care, safety issues, security and ethical concerns. We usually have two kinds of care: one is provided by a single nurse to a specific patient, also known as total patient care, while the other is team nursing. When providing patient’s care, these two options are available. However, the two will not produce similar results at the end of the day. Therefore there is the need to undertake a research study and establish the best kind of care for patients. Significance of Study Once the appropriate patient care method has been established from the study, it will be possible for medical facilities and institutions to influence the kind and nature of patient care given by nurses. The ultimate goal of any nursing practice is to provide the patient with the right care and eventually restore his or her health back. This study will therefore establish and motivate the best patient care approach between the two. Literature review Over the past years there have been diverse developments in nursing care which have which have been aimed at promotion service delivery on the patients. When it comes to maintenance of health especially for the individuals under care, it is the role of the nurses and doctors to engage the necessary mechanisms which shall be able to promote effective health in the society. It would thus be necessary to come up with all engagements capable of improving delivery of service and promote performance. There has been great advancement in the health care system in our society today than in the past years. The medical technology has made it possible to keep individuals suffering from mental diseases in places that they feel secure and comfortable. This means that an individual’s life can be prolonged and hence patients living with the persistent mental condition can live for an indeterminate time. A successful nursing assessment with regard to total patient care and team nursing  leaves a feeling of value in the case of the nurse and in the end one is motivated by the encounters linked to symptom relief. Being the first stage of the nursing process, assessment is taken to be the initial stage where the nurse takes a holistic and complete nursing assessment concerning the needs of the patient, regardless of the very reason of encounter (Kaur, 2010). Total patient care is defined as a holistic nursing care which provides all necessary care to an ailing patient. The concept of team nursing involve the philosophy in which different group of professionals in the health sector work together to provide effective nursing care to patients. Like total nursing care, team nursing entails providing effective and comprehensive nursing needs to groups of patients. Total patient care and team nursing is very vital in the sense that it allows nursing and health institutions to provide all-inclusive and holistic nursing care with specialized teams that function at a high level of competence. Total nursing care entails a system that ensure nurses are available to provide all the needs a patient requires all the way from admission to discharge. This technique is effective in that the patient is able to build strong bond and confidence on the skills of the nurse assigned to him. This bond between the patient and nurse promote o fast rec overy and enhanced nurse-patient relationship. Major issue of total patient care and team nursing is that it’s very expensive. There is also lack of individual effort and lack of ability to communicate. Though it has many demerits and merits, the lesson people should learn is that total patient care and team nursing is vital and the personalized care of patients is infinitely valuable and it is not justifiable to treat them otherwise. Nurses have the duty of ensuring patients receive adequate care and treatment. Freedom and right to do things voluntarily is sacred and therefore each individual deserves respect and the notion behind seclusion should be reconsidered and reviewed (Slim, 2009). Objectives for the proposal To establish the best patient care between total patient care and team nursing. To act as guide for policy implementation for patient care To provide relevant information regarding use of total patient care and team nursing. To identify the current problems related with total patient care and team nursing. Research Methodology In order to ensure that the study will be conducted in a much intelligent manner, questionnaires will be used. These questionnaires will be pre-tested and as well as modified in an effective manner before starting the real field study and survey. Therefore, the research methodology will involve the use of two teams from the two types of patient care. Three groups for every team will be interviewed to come up with the rightful information about the nursing care practice. In that case, six nurses from each group will be interviewed through the use of questionnaires.  This is will be done by using a multi- care level aged care unit, a recovery ward and an acute unit in a large public hospital. Also, the questionnaires shall have to be coded, and data shall be analyzed through the use of SPSS computer software for analysis and interpretation (Sockett, 2005). This kind of analysis will also include a thorough comparison in the variance and the final analyzed data. It should be noted that some respondents shall be reached by the issuing of the questionnaires. Because of that, there will be the placing of the questionnaires through the internet. Through internet use, more and more individuals would be reached hence improving the quality of data that shall be obtained from the study. This would be able to give good information which would help in determining the major determining factors towards effective total patient care and team nursing (Gilbert, 2008). Data analysis and dissemination of findings. This study if approved, it shall be able to come up appropriate findings which shall be useful in ensuring that there has been the provision of the necessary modalities and engagements which shall be useful in encouraging the use of total patient care and team nursing. There shall be a production of a guide for policy which shall have to be adopted, and such shall be able to show the ability of the technique effectiveness. This shall be done by engaging the necessary engagement and mechanism which when adopted will lead to the realization of goals and objectives (Gilbert, 2008). Budget Expense Projected Amount ($) Personnel 5000 Equipment 10000 Purchase of Medicine 10000 Materials and Supplies 80,000 Consultant’s 20,000 Printing 500 Others 4500 Total direct cost 130,000 To obtain permission to conduct research on medical patients and their nest of kin will be grievous since the study will involve accessing of patient private files and ethically this will be against the medical policy of privacy and anonymity. Conducting interviews with colleagues and members of the public will raise the question of conflict of interest (Brian, 2009).  Discussion The research shall also adopt the use of focus group method in which the respondents shall be held in discussion on how to improve total patient care and team nursing, and ways in which it can be enhanced to meet global standards. This shall be done on arranged meetings in a month between a maximum of twenty respondents. In this way, the depth of information offered by a respondent will be of greater importance towards the development and promotion of effective nursing care to patients (Walker Avant, 1995). In order to analyse a qualitative data, the study shall adopt the use of cognitive mapping data displays. Data displays basically refer to how you will draw conclusions from your data. Such displays of organising information and viewing pictorial help in coming up with conclusive comments towards promoting effective total patient care and team nursing (Sunshine Coast Nursing, 2010). Conclusion Upon completion, this study shall be able to effectively establish the benefits of total patient care and team nursing. This kind of study and research is necessary in ensuring that appropriate engagements have been put in place which shall provide the necessary engagements which makes it possible to realize appropriate service delivery to patients and community at large. This study will provide the necessary protocols which address patient care n issues, and such would as well be worth adopting within any other organization or health facility within the world. Therefore, I believe the research study will be able to prove that team nursing is the best practice to provide the necessary care to the patient.

Business Economics Business Economic Decisions
Question: Define the Business Economics for Business Economic Decisions. Answer: Introduction Economic models help us to better understand the how the different entities in the economy interact with each other and how they make their economic decisions. In any country economic issues occupy an important place in the lives of people. The governments follow policies that lead to the creation of more assets and employment. Moreover it creates more revenues by taxing different industries like tobacco industry. The government is also a consumer in some cases and would follow pragmatic economic policies in making purchases like defence equipment. 1: An economic model establishes a quantitative or logical relationship between two or more variables with the objective of explaining complex economic processes. In any economy scarce resources are used for production of goods and services (Baumol, and Blinder, 2012). There is interaction between the producers, consumers and government. This gives rise to many economic situations and models use mathematical techniques to explain such situations. Economic models are developed by collecting and analyzing data to discover patterns and understand in a better way how things happen in the economy. Thus economic models are of immense use as economies of the world have become very dynamic and unpredictable and important economic decisions have to be taken by governments, firms and consumers (Gans, Mankiw and King, 2011). Economic models are based on certain assumptions. The law of demand is a very important and popular economic model. According to this model, other things remaining the same as the price of a commodity rises, its demand would fall. On the other hand if the price falls the demand of the commodity would rise. This model is validated by the economic data collected over the years. Thus it is not enough to just generate an economic model, it has to be proved to be correct. The law of demand predicts the behavior of the consumers (Baumol and Blinder, 2012). There are many uses of economic models which are useful in academics for explaining complex economic situations to students. Further these models are useful in making economic policies, allocation of resources by firms and providing justification by government for adopting a particular economic policy. But it has to be understood that construction of economic models that can explain or predict economic behavior or developments is not an easy task. A large amount of data has to be collected which is accurate. Further advanced skills are required to analyze this data and arrive at correct conclusions. Generation of such models requires mostly quantitative and in certain cases qualitative analysis of data. The developments in the economic world are very complex and intricate. There are many forces interacting with each other in the market and different combinations can give rise to developments which are not sometimes explained or predicted by the existing economic models (Gans, Mankiw and King, 2011). These models have their limitations also because they are based on certain assumptions and approximations. But still the existing economic models have a very important role to play and the economists must continue to make efforts to develop better economic models that help different ent ities to understand how the economic forces work so that better economic decisions can be made which would benefit the society as a whole. 2: In Australia there are people who buy housing properties by taking loans and give them on rent. In many cases the interest paid on such loan in a year and other costs incurred on the housing property like maintenance charges are less than the rent received on that property in that year. This is a situation of negative gearing. In this case the owner of the housing property is making a net loss on the property for those years. Still people invest in such housing properties as the owner of the property expects capital gains in future by selling the property. The government of Australia, allows deduction of net loss on such properties incurred by owners every year from their incomes for the purpose of calculation of their income tax. Thus they have to pay lesser taxes. The idea is to ultimate promote employment by creating more demand for housing property. But this is criticized also as it reduces governments income. Moreover it is argued that it is only the big investors in the housing sector who benefit from this scheme and youngsters and first time buyers of housing property are driven out of the market due to high prices of property created by the speculation practices of big investors. Labour party of Australia has proposed to reduce this tax relief given to the property buyers by changing the negative gearing policy. If there is complete removal of this negative gearing, then it would have effect on the demand for housing property in Australia. In this case the law of demand and supply would apply (Besanko and Braeutigam, 2010). As the tax relief provided in the situation of negative gearing is removed, the demand for housing property would go down. The situation is shown in the diagram given below: Figure 1 : Effect of removal of negative gearing on demand for housing property It becomes clear from the above diagram that the price of the housing property is shown on the X axis and the quantity of housing property is shown on the Y Axis. D2 D3 is the demand curve showing the aggregate demand for housing property in Australia. SS1 is the supply curve showing the aggregate supply of housing property in Australia. In this case P1 is the equilibrium price. As there is a change in one of the factors other than price, that is, the taxation policy of the government, the demand curve shifts to the left and DD1 is the new demand curve. P is the new equilibrium price for housing property. It is estimated if the Labour Party proposal to remove negative gearing to a certain extent are implemented, then, growth in housing prices would slow down to an increase of 2.6% (Smh.com.au, 2016). Earlier in the Mckell Institutes forecast it was predicted that housing prices would grow by 3.9% under old rules of negative gearing, over the next 10 years (Switzer.com.au, 2016). Further a research by SQM shows Australian house prices would fall by a combined 4% over 2018, 2019 and 2020 (Domain.com.au, 2016). 3. The Australian government charges excise tax of $ 0.53733 per stick of cigarette (www.ato.gov.au, 2016). So the excise tax that the government would charge on a packet of 20 Cigarettes is 0 .53733 * 20 = 10. 74 dollars. In case the government of Australia increases the goods and services taxes to be paid by the sellers of tobacco products, it would lead to an increase in the prices of these products charged by the sellers from the consumers. This would lead to decrease in demand for tobacco products as shown in the figure given below: Figure 2 : Decrease in demand for tobacco products as taxes are increased In the figure given above DD1 is the demand curve. As the price of tobacco product is increased from B to A, its quantity demanded decreases from P to Q. In Australia if an entity produces or stores tobacco products then it must have an excise license and has to pay excise duty. Further if the business entity imports tobacco, then it has to pay custom duty. In August 1998, the Australian Government announced a 'per stick' tobacco excise system to replace the existing weight based system. The federal excise on tobacco was changed from bi-annual indexation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to bi-annual indexation based on average weekly ordinary time earnings (AWOTE) in 2014. The excise rates on tobacco products charged by the Australian government are as follows: (www.ato.gov.au, 2016). Product Rate from 1 March 2016 Tobacco, Cigars, Cigarettes and Snuff In stick form not exceeding in weight .8 grams per stick actual tobacco content $0.53733per stick Other $ 671.68 per kilogram of tobacco content A goods and services tax is a tax levied by the federal government of Australia at the rate of 10% on the supply of many goods and services by entities which have been registered for the tax. Such tax is also to be paid on the sale of tobacco products in Australia. A business entity would include the goods and services tax in the sale price it charges for the product being sold by it. So ultimately the burden of the goods and services tax is passed on to the consumer. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced in Australia on 1st July 2000. Further if an individual imports tobacco products into Australia, then it has to pay custom duty. Price elasticity of demand measures the effect of a change in the price of a product on the quantity demanded of the product by the consumers (Besanko and Braeutigam , 2010). The price elasticity of demand is calculated by dividing percentage change in quantity demanded with percentage change made in the price of the product. Price elasticity of demand can be highly elastic or even inelastic. In case of price elasticity being highly elastic the proportionate change in quantity demanded of a product would be higher than the proportionate change in its price. In case of inelasticity, there would be no change in quantity demanded of a product in response to a change in its price. In Australia the number of people who smoke has been decreasing also due to the rising prices of tobacco products in the country. Thus the price elasticity of demand for tobacco products in Australia is significant. The producers of tobacco products have to be cautious when they decide to increase the prices of their products as this would lead to much lesser total revenues for them in future. The producers need to have specific information regarding the price elasticity of demand for their products if they want to forecast their total revenues and also set prices of their products. If the price elasticity of demand for a product is high, there would be a greater degree of change in total revenues of a firm if price is changed. In Australia the rising prices of tobacco products from local manufacturers has led to more illegal smuggling of these products from Asian countries which cost significantly less. The producers of tobacco products in Australia can reduce the price elasticity of demand for their products by through different measures like effective advertising and promoting brand loyalty among the consumers. They can make better products. 4: The Australian government has decided to give the contract for building twelve submarines to a French company. There were other firms also from different countries which had applied to the Australian government for the contract (Abc.net.au, 2016). There existed competition among the different manufacturers of the submarines and there are obviously other countries in the world which purchase such nuclear submarines. Thus there are a number of buyers and sellers of submarines in the world market. Moreover there is sufficient amount of product differentiation in this industry. This is a situation of monopolistic competition between the firms (Yourarticlelibrary.com, 2016). The Australian government wanted to take full advantage of this competition by buying submarines from only one of these firms. As one single contract for twelve submarines is a more lucrative and bigger contract, this would have meant that the companies were more willing to bring their price down to win the contract. Moreover they were more willing to make non price concessions in the form of the technology transfer, making the submarines in Australia employing Australian labour, etc. A manufacturing firm would enjoy economies of scale as it produces more and its operations become larger. There are internal and external economies of scale. The Australian government is in the process of developing infrastructure for shipbuilding in the country. Already things have been put in motion to manufacture frigates and patrol vessels in the area. As the French firm would make the nuclear submarines in Australia, the shipbuilding industry in Australia would develop and firms would enjoy many external economies of scale like improvement in transport and communication facilities, availability of specific machinery required for shipbuilding, technicians, etc (economicsonline.co.uk, 2016). Moreover by giving the contract of making all the twelve submarines to one company, the Australian government has provided the company an opportunity to enjoy economies of scale like using the same administrative staff for a bigger project, making bulk purchases and spreading its other costs over a bigger project with more returns for the company. All these factors must have been noticed by the French company and also other defence manufacturers. The figure given below shows how the average costs of a firm decline over a period of time as it enjoys economies of scale. But after a certain point there are also diseconomies of scale due to more complexity in operations. Source: Economicsonline.co.uk Figure 3 : Effect of economies and diseconomies of scale One another reason for the decision of the Australian government to award the contract for all the twelve submarines to French company only would be the security reason. If submarines were purchased from more companies then sensitive information relating to defence would have to be shared with more entities. Moreover by involving one company the work on the project would be faster and costs of coordination would be less even during the implementation. Conclusion The merit of an economic model also lies in the fact that how easy it is easy to understand and how far reaching are the implications of its predictions. It should provide a solution to existing problems. A producer has to be aware that there are different forces that exist in the market and these are capable of affecting the firms efforts to make more profits or rein in production costs. The economic policies of a country also sometimes change with the change in political power. References Abc.net.au, (2016). Marriott Forecasting Essay Example
Marriott Forecasting Paper This case involves the study of the Hamilton Hotel and the use of forecasting to help predict their demand on a specific day. Marriott Hotels operated the Hamilton hotel. Marriott has been known for a culture that puts people first. Marriott is recognized worldwide for their enduring values, their spirit to serve, and their corporate commitment to creating better places to live and work. 1) Critical Issue: The critical issue is the manager has to choose either to accept up to 60 additional room reservations for Saturday or not. ) critical Facts: The hotel loses revenue if the room is vacant for one night. Customer service is a priority for Marmots hotel. Customers often cancel reservations in the last minute or they dont show up. Sometimes, customers stay in the hotel for an additional date beyond their original reservation. Sometimes, customers checked out early. Every Tuesday, the manager needs to prepare a forecast for the follow week occupancy for each day from Saturday to Friday . If the hotel meets targets for occupancy ND revenue, hotel managers will be reward for their performance. The hotel has 1877 rooms. On Tuesday, August 18, 1 987 the manager received a reservation request for up to 60 rooms from a tour company for Saturday August 22. Although 1 839 rooms were reserved already for Saturday. The contribution margin from a room was about 590. The cost for denial a room would be about twice the contribution figure. Frequent guests are the customers that stay more than 45 nights a year in the hotel. ) Analysis: In order to forecast the expected demand in the short term and make the eight decision for Snow either to accept up to 60 rooms, first we decided to look at the historical daily demand for the last 13 weeks and analyze the demand pattern. In graph 1, given data shows peaks and valleys, has no trend and shows seasonal variations in time series. It is difficult to forecast an accurate future demand for this data without using the seasonal forecasting method. Graph 1 When analyzing Pickup Ratio (Demand/Tuesday Bookings) for each Saturday, we can see that most ratios are less than 1. 00. We will write a custom essay sample on Marriott Forecasting specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Marriott Forecasting specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Marriott Forecasting specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer If reservation manager, Snow, decides to accept 60 rooms reservation from the tour company, she will overbook 22 rooms. As we know, 1839 rooms have been already reserved and she can give only 38 additional rooms. If she accepts 60 rooms reservation and there are no cancellations, she will have to accommodate additional 22 room requests providing with a comparable room in a different hotel somewhere in the city, transporting the quest, giving ratify such as fruit bucket. According to the text, if a customer is a frequent guest (Marquis cardholder), he or she would received $200 cash plus next two stays at the Marriott for free. Also, the approximate cost for denying a room is about $180. For 22 rooms it will be $3,960. If she decides not to overbook 22 rooms, she might be missing 22*90 = $1 ,980 Of revenue. Moreover, she might be losing an opportunity to establish a good relationship with the tour company, who may book steady numbers of 60 rooms on Saturdays in the future. This would generate additional profit, since we know from historical data that Saturdays are always under booked. Given a very low variable costs and marginal profit of 90$, it is a great opportunity for Snow to maximize profit during one of the slowest day of the week Saturdays (according to DOD indicator). However, she has to forecast demand for Saturday to make sure that she will have those rooms available. Denying a guest with reserved room can be very costly, especially for loyal customers and negatively reflect on hotels reputation. 4) Recommendations Effectiveness: We are recommending that the hotel accept the request from the tour company for up to 60 rooms. It was important for us to have the multiple forecasts and use the one with the lowest mean absolute deviation (MAD) before we made our decision. You Will see in the excel attachment that the seasonal forecast did in fact produce the lowest MAD and produced a forecast extremely close to the previous actual data. According to the seasonal forecast the hotel is expected to have 1,787 guests show up out of the 1,839 that were booked.

Finance Example Finance – Essay Example CASE STUDY: SHELL’S ATTEMPT TO TAKEOVER WOODSIDE The dream takeover on Woodside Petroleum by Shellin 2001 was not to be. The Australian government, under the Foreign Acquisition and Takeovers Act rejected the bid. The person primarily responsible for this was Mr. Peter Costello, the federal treasurer at that time. In his speech for giving reasons why the Shell takeover bid was rejected, Mr. Costello said he believed that the takeover was not in the national interest of the Australians. . PART (A) Reasons why Mr. Costello rejected Shell to take over Woodside, 1. There was strive fear among Australians that their job security would be threatened if Shell was to take over. In case Shell took over, the Shell owners might have tried to improve the efficiency of Woodside operations in line with the parent company’s criteria. This would have included bringing in machinery and employees whom they believed would deliver what was required. The complication to this is that the machinery brought in might replace the human input to perform tasks that would lead to massive layoff of workers. Bringing in their own specialists would have also caused unemployment to specialists from Australia. This would be devastating to the government considering the fact that in 2001 the unemployment rate in Australia was at about 6% high. 2. The Woodside petroleum company is Australia’s major explorer and production of petroleum and gas. This means that most, if not all, areas that have these fuel extracts are exploited by Woodside and her joint partners. If Shell were successful in its bid, this would be catastrophic to Australia in that its resources would be under exploited. Mr. Costello believed that, Shell would be incapable of fully exploiting fuel in Australia as it would be too busy giving priority to its operation in Russia’s Sakhalin Island, which had promising results for Shell hence under developing the operations that Woodside was involved in especially the North West Shelf gas field, which was Australia’s largest developed energy resource at that time. 3. â€Å"National interest that it be developed and marketed in preference to competing products from anywhere in the world†(Mr. Peter Costello- Reserve treasurer, 2001). Here Mr. Costello was talking about the North West Shelf gas field. Analysts believed that if this part was effectively exploited, the liquid gas from here had potential of becoming the country’s largest export. Most of Australia’s gas and petroleum resources are based in the western region, hence, it was very important for the North West Shelf to be maximized; this would provide the country with income and a favourable balance of payment. This meant all measures had to be taken to ensure the potential of the country’s resources were fully utilized. The North West Shelf has estimated natural gas resources of more than 3168 Gm3 (130 Tcf) PART B: Reasons why Shell wanted to acquire Woodside. 1. In the year 2001, Shell already had 34% share claim to Woodside petroleum. Through the takeover bid, Shell expected to increase its share in Woodside to 56% hence being the majority shareholder. This would work in the favour of Shell in that it would be given the chance to appoint more directors at the Woodside Company. A higher number of directors in the board would assure the decision makers at Shell that most of their decisions would be passed with a high number of votes by the directors they appoint to the board. 2. The idea of a takeover bid by Shell would be a kind of expansion plan. Though Shell has continually denied it, taking over Woodside would be like opening an office branch for Shell in Australia. This would ensure that Shell has a deeper grip on the Asia-pacific region in the petroleum and gas industry. 3. Shell’s hostile takeover of Woodside would have guaranteed Shell more gas fields, particularly in North West shelf of Australia. This would have increased the production and output that essentially will be transferred to increased revenue and profits for the firm, hence, putting Shell ahead of companies it competes against in the petroleum and gas exploration and production industry like, British petroleum and Exxon. Acts 1 and 2 of Romeo and Juliet
Acts 1 and 2 of Romeo and Juliet Essay Love is an important theme in Romeo and Juliet and is interpreted in many ways by the many different characters. After the prologue, which is filled with hints of the ending for the star-crossed lovers, the play opens with a scene between Sampson and Gregory who are two servants of the Capulet family. They are vulgar and crude, making many sexual references and innuendoes. They do not see love as involving emotions or desires, but as a purely physical thing, sexual not emotional. Sampson refers to women as weaker vessels and tells of how he will rape the maids of the Montague household. Neither of them appears to have ever experienced true love. They talk in a rude and coarse manner and objectify women. The opening helps the audience to contrast this vulgar image of love shown in a humorous context, to Romeo and Juliets sincere love for each other. This perception of love is also shared by the nurse and Mercutio, both who are comical characters. Mercutios humour is mostly offensive and insulting; he sees love as a pointless emotion. Mercutio teases Romeo from the start for being a lover. He believes that love is just an illusion, its made up in dreams by Queen Mab, he says she gallops night by night through lovers brains, and then they dream of love. The nurse uses similar bawdy language by way of, Go girl, seek happy nights to happy days. The nurse urges Juliet to get all of the pleasures out of love and she ensures Juliet and Romeo are able to marry and indulge in their sexual relationship. In this way, although there is long elaborate speech of true passionate love between Romeo and Juliet, there is also rude and coarse language which would have appealed to the lower-class audience. In the Elizabethan era, it was common for a young man to fall hopelessly in love with an unattainable beautiful woman, often with little chance of being loved back. This is how we first meet Romeo; he is very depressed and confused. However, you see many different attitudes towards love from Romeo; during each situation he is in, he reveals a different portrayal of love. Here he tells his cousin, Benvolio, of how he is in love with a woman, Rosaline, and speaks his love. This love feel I, that feel no love in this. Romeo speaks of how he does not enjoy being in love and that he sees it as a punishment, like being shut up in prison or like being whipped and tormented. He talks of love as being something he has to do, not something he feels. Benvolio believes that Romeo is not really in love, but that it is more of an infatuation. In his attempts to help Romeo overcome his obsession, Benvolio tells him to examine other beauties. Benvolio does not have a lot of belief in true love but merely in loving the beauty of women. In this scene, the audience see Romeo for the first time and they are exposed to a pathetic, depressed, miserable boy, who does not take pleasure in love, ay me sad hours seem long However the fact Shakespeare never reveals Rosaline to the audience adds mystery to Romeos obsession. This kind of love he feels for Rosaline did not tend to lead towards marriage, which was something else. Marriage often had nothing to do with love; it was arranged between families and was generally all to do with legal contracts, family, pride and wealth. This is shown by Juliets parents; Capulet is much older than Lady Capulet, who married when she was very young. Her mother learnt to love him after they married. This is also depicted in the scene when Paris asks Capulet for Juliets hand in marriage before he has even met her. Although Juliet is very young, Capulet still gives Juliet a choice of if she wants to be married and by this shows his affection for her. He refers to her as the hopeful lady of his earth and she calls him as good father. He believes marriage as a good thing but also states that love is preferable. He does also show his concern about Juliets age, READ: Using Shakespeares' Romeo and Juliet and Baz Lurhmanns' film version EssayShe hath not seen the change of fourteen years, Let two more summers wither in their pride, Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride. Yet Paris states that women younger than Juliet are already made mothers, a thought shared also with Lady Capulet, Well, think of marriage now; younger than you, Here in Verona, ladies of esteem, Are made already mothers: by my count. She feels marriage is more important than love as well, So shall you share all that he doth possess, By having him, making yourself no less. She implies that marriage a necessity and it is what women are made for. Lady Capulet also recites a long elaborate speech full of comparisons of Paris face and love being like a book, Read oer the volume of young Paris face, This precious book of love, this unbound lover This speech starts with the assumption that because Paris is a man of wax, Juliet should be very excited to be given the chance to marry him and should immediately be attracted to him. However, Lady Capulet soon gets irritated when Juliet shows no signs of interest; she hurries Juliet, asking her of her feelings towards this, Speak briefly, can you like of Paris love? Juliet answers in such a way that keeps her parents happy, Ill look to like, if looking liking move, She says that she will look forward to liking him, if by looking at him can lead her to liking him. As she is so young, her answer seems acceptable as her mother does not question her further. Lady Capulets scene with Juliet is not normally how a mother addresses her daughter or how a daughter addresses her mother. Their dialogue seems very formal and polite, Madam, I am here. What is your will? This depicts the distance between Juliet and her mother; instead of saying mother, she says madam. However, this gap between them is filled by the nurse. The nurse effectively acts as Juliets substitute mother and it is her, who Juliet confides in and trusts. When Romeo first meets Juliet, the insincerity of his love for Rosaline is exposed and he suddenly realises it, Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For I neer saw true beauty till this night. He speaks of how his love for Rosaline was not true and pure, like the love he now feels for Juliet. His attitude towards love changes as suddenly as his change of heart. Romeos feelings sound more genuine in speeches about Juliet than of Rosaline which was much more exaggerated. He wants to be with Juliet all the time, and he is continually comparing her to a saint and the light that can brighten up anything. O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! O, then, dear saint, O, speak again, bright angel! In the sonnet shared by Romeo and Juliet, the interpretation of love is shown as religion. There are many references to saints, pilgrims, shrines, holy, prayers, faith and devotion. This is an obvious contrast to how he felt when he was in love with Rosaline. Juliet seems very playful in her language with Romeo but she also feels the same way as she refers to him as her only love. In their scene at the balcony, Romeo now feels love as being a power in which he can with loves light wings fly over the high walls surrounding the Capulet mansion. When Juliet asks Romeo how he knew which room was hers, Romeo replied, By love that first did prompt me to inquire; He lent me counsel, and I lent him eyes. This means that love led him to her balcony. Juliet, in this scene, seems much more mature than Romeo and speaks in a much more serious tone; Romeo speaks using elaborate and indirect language, READ: Good Hook For Romeo And Juliet EssayIt is my soul that calls upon my name: How silver-sweet sound lovers tongues by night, Like softest music to attending ears! Juliet does not like his theatrical speech, instead she gradually tears Romeo away from this artificial language in which he used with Rosaline. Juliet speaks of love as being eternal and sacred, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite. She believes in their love so much that she accepts to marry him, the only son of her parents sworn enemy, even though Paris had offered to marry her. Friar Lawrence acts as Romeos substitute father and looks after him throughout Romeos relationship with Juliet. He agrees to marry them thinking it will unite their families but still feels it is still a risk, Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast. When the Friar remarks on how quickly he falls in love, Romeo replies by saying that there is a difference between his old love and his new one, Her I love now Doth grace for grace and love for love allow. The other did not so. This is another example of how Romeo is truly in love with Juliet. The friar is similar to the role of the nurse towards Juliet as they both look after and advise the young lovers. In conclusion, there are many forms of love; parental love, marital love and physical love. I believe that Romeo and Juliet contains the right balance of each different aspect of love. The humorous bawdy language of Mercutio and the nurse provide a break from all the ominous reminders of the tragic ending and the elaborate, fancy dialogue of Romeo and Juliet. These crude parts of the play would also have appealed to the lower class and less cultured members of the Elizabethan audience. All in all, the theme of love is well presented in many different ways by many characters.

Changes in Accounting Due to Globalization - Assignment Example Financial accounting refers to information that describes the financial resources, obligations, and activities of the business organization. Management accounting involves the development and interpretation of accounting information designed to assist management (Wiliam and Haka, 2005, p. 5-6). These two accounting systems differ in the dimensions of users to whom the information is produced, the structure of the information, sources of principles for both, report entity, purpose, need and time orientation etc. Financial accounting is basically concerned with producing financial information and reports like financial statements for external users including investors, creditors, government agencies, customers, and banks etc. But, managerial accounting is concerned with producing and providing accounting information for all internal users including managers for decision making, planning and controlling (Heitger and Mowen, 2007, p. 6) Khan (2007) emphasizes that the users of information produced by financial accounting other than management are often a faceless group. Normally, the managers of many companies do not personally know the shareholders or creditors etc. But, users of management account are within the organization like managers and those who help managers produce this information (p. 7) The information is presented in a different structure in management accounting and financial accounting. Financial account must follow a single and unified structure as the information related or presented in different organizations must be more or less in a uniform structure. Balance sheet, profit, and loss account or income statement and cash flow statements are the end products of financial accounting. The balance sheet is a financial position statement of the business for a particular period of time, generally for a financial year.Â

Critical Path - Project Management Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Critical Path - Project Management - Assignment Example This process provides us a total time taken by the project. For assessing the total time we use above mentioned methods to find out the main project completion and development time. Through this time we obtain a project time line for the project execution. Here we also assign appropriate sequence to each activity of the project. Through these assigned activity sequencing, the expansion of a project network diagram is developed. This procedure is pretty time intense if completed with hand. Luckily, there are development organization software tools that can build network illustrations although there can be an illustration where we have to perform it by hand. One of the main causes for building a plan organization network drawing is to decide the elasticity inside the network (Kerzner, 2006) and (Field & Keller, 2007). Total float is the time obtainable for holding-up an activity devoid of delay end Date of the plan. The entire float of a task is then the biggest probable delay in finishing of this task that will not reason a delay in the achievement of the whole project. This recommends the subsequent instinctive notion: (Kerzner, 2006) and (Burke, 1999): The process of the determining the total float of a project activity involves the assessment of the total delaying an activity with no delay end Date of the plan. The total float of a project activity is the largest possible delay in the completion of that task that will not cause a delay in the accomplishment of the whole project (Kerzner, 2006). The assessment of the critical path provides a better overview of the project duration and more critical activates as well as their management. In the assessment of the critical activates of the project we determine their total float. Total float of the project if equal to zero then that activity denotes as the critical activity (Gray & Larson, 2006). The CP (critical path) is the best times path in the course of the network

Athenian Women :: essays research papers
ATHENIAN WOMEN It is ridiculous to assume that the Athenian women of Ancient Greece were respected and revered by men. These women were not held in high regard. Men controlled all aspects of their lives, beginning with their fathers and continuing with their husbands once they married. Most girls were married in their very early teens to men that were usually much older (Xenophon’s Oeconomicus), sometimes as much as twice the age of their wives. The age difference was considered a moot point since women at that time often did not survive the rigors of repeated childbirth and died young. It was also generally believed that marrying a very young girl enabled the husbands to train her and mold her into a proper Athenian wife. Athenian women had almost no influence or power in Greek society and were not highly regarded until they could produce a male child (Socrates). The common belief at that time (in most Western societies) was that women were necessary to produce children. Women existed for the sake of procreation, to bear sons in order to continue the family name (Aristotle states that the man supplies the substance, the soul, i.e. the form for children, the woman provides only the nourishment), (Source: Generation of Animals). In Athenian society, extramarital affairs by husbands with women (and men) was the norm, and it indeed contributed to the image of a man’s prosperity if he had a mistress. Did the males in this society consider their wives praiseworthy? In my opinion the answer is no, since a wife who was the husband’s property and could be disciplined if she did not conform to the Athenian standards of wife. Athenian wives were judged in society by their frugality, ability to rais e sons, and their devotion and faithfulness to their husbands, (e.g., Penelope and Odysseus). A married woman caught in adultery would have been forced to abandon her home and children for the disgrace it would bring the family name, (Hunt, pg. 70). Men in ancient Athens (as in just about every Western civilization) had altered views of women. They saw women as being weak and dependent (Xenophon Oeconomicus), and because of the socioeconomic structure of the time, they were. Women in this society could, to some degree, assert power and influence in the home. The everyday life of the â€Å"ideal†Greek woman included child bearing and rearing, cleaning, both weaving cloth and making clothes, cooking and supervising slaves and other domestic tasks, (Xenophon, On Household Management).

The Protective Nature Towards Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Throughout life every single person will be subject to multiple, different stressors; work, traumatic and in relationships, for example. For some, these stressors impose a negative impact upon that person which include cognitive, behavioural and physiological effects whereas for others, the same types of stressors do not cause the same impact. The reason for this is resilience, characterized by the ability to bounce back from negative emotional experiences and by flexible adaptation to the changing demands of stressful experiences (Fredrickson Tugade, 2004). There are several factors that influence people’s resilience to stress and knowledge of these factors improves the ability to improve people’s resilience. These factors include personality traits, optimism, Locus of Control, social support and finally, hardiness. Hardiness will be discussed in relation to its protective nature towards Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As stated previously, there are differences between people in their resilience to stress. One factor influencing this is personality traits as they influence the cognitive processing of stressful events, the appraisal (Lyons, Rench, Riffle Schneider, 2011). Examining the Five Factor Model of Personality (Costa McCrae, 1985), low levels of neuroticism has been shown to heighten reactivity which affects how major and minor life stressors are perceived (Suls, 2001). Armeli, Cohen and Gunthert (1999) support this by finding that people high in neuroticismShow MoreRelatedSupport System For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder1549 Words  | 7 PagesSystem to Post Traumatic Stress disorder Patient in U.
